Dr. Scott Smith, Veterinarian

Dr. Smith has worked at Ramsey Veterinary Hospital since graduating from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine, in May of 1992. In July, 1996, he became owner of the practice. His areas of special interest include soft tissue surgery and ultrasound. He is currently a member of the Metropolitan Veterinary Association, Northern New Jersey Veterinary Association, and is licensed in New Jersey, New York, and Florida. Dr. Smith lives in Ramsey, New Jersey with his wife and three dogs. During his time off, he enjoys golf, biking, surfing and tennis.

Dr. Cara Lane, Assoc. Veterinarian

Dr. Cara Lane earned her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, after finishing a Masters Degree in Creative Writing & Art at NYU. She then completed a competitive internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the ASPCA in NYC. She is interested in exotic species, surgery, and critical care. She resides in Bergen County, NJ with her husband, two young sons, two dogs, a cat, a tortoise, and two fancy goldfish. In her spare time, Dr. Lane enjoys reading, hiking, baking, and swimming--but most of all, spending time with her boys.

Melissa David, Manager, Technicians and Animal Caretakers

Melissa joined Ramsey Veterinary Hospital as a technician in 1998. Through her hard work and dedication, she advanced her position to Head Technician. Melissa lives in Waldwick with her husband - Jeremy, dog - Mavis and cat - Tasha. In her spare time she enjoys attending Giant and Ranger games and spending time outdoors with Mavis.

Ann Donohue, Manager, Client Services

Ann joined Ramsey Veterinary Hospital in 2007 as a receptionist.  Prior to that, she was a nursery school teacher for many years.  She attended Montclair State University.  She lives in Allendale with her husband, Tom, and golden retriever, Riley.  She enjoys walking with friends and spending time with her family.

Anne M. Smith, MA, Counselor

Anne received her masters in thanatology from Brooklyn College, CUNY. She has been working in the field of hospice and bereavement for the past 15 years. In addition to her work as a bereavement counselor, she is teaching thanatology courses at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Anne has joined the Ramsey Veterinary staff to support clients regarding end-of-life issues for pets and pet bereavement.

The American Animal Hospital Association is a non-profit organization for companion animal veterinary hospitals. Established in 1933, the association is the only accrediting body for small animal hospitals in the U.S. and Canada.

Our veterinarians are available for consultation or in-hospital care to our clients and their pets 7 days a week, 365 days a year from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. The emergency number is (201)-218-6488.
